2000 in Munich
The Society for the History of Technology will meet in Munich, Germany, August 17-20, 2000. The Mercurians will hold their annual meeting at that time. Please consult www.mercurians.org after June 1 for details. We have plannned another breakfast meeting, leaving everyone time to participate in the conference. We fully expect that the quality of pastries will be improved by our European venue.
Munich is a wonderful place for a conference-for anything. For one thing, transport is so very civilized: a subway runs from the airport and stops right under the conference hotel. The Deutsches Museum and the Munich Center for the History of Science and Technology will host the meeting. They have arranged very reasonable hotel rates (for reservations made by June 6), as well as inexpensive student housing. Seven fascinating tours await participants, not to mention a remarkable slate of scholarly sessions.
