2000 in Munich The Society for the History of Technology will meet in Munich, Germany, August 17-20, 2000. The Mercurians will hold their annual meeting at that time. Please consult www.mercurians.org in July for details about the Mercurians annual meeting. We will plan another breakfast meeting, leaving everyone time to participate in the conference. We fully expect that the quality of pastries will be improved by our European venue. SHOTs program committee specifically encourages single paper and complete session proposals that attempt to use the history of technology to inform other disciplines or other subdisciplines of history. Poster sessions are also welcome. Because SHOT is meeting outside of the United States, the societys rules allow people who presented in 1999 at the Detroit meeting to be eligible for presenting in 2000. Paper proposals require a one-page abstract, a one-page curriculum vitae that includes postal and e-mail addresses. Session proposals must include these items for each paper in the session, plus a statement of the sessions topic and how each paper contributes to it, a list of presenters names and paper titles, plus a c. v. for the commentator, chairperson, and organizer. Proposals for both individual papers and sessions must be postmarked by February 10, 2000. Send completed proposals, on paper and in triplicate, to Dr. Michael Allen, SHOT Program Chair, Zentralinstitut für Geschichte der Technik, Deutsches Museum, Museuminsel 1, D-80306 München, Germany.
