The Media Ecology Association announced its Year 2000 Awards. These included the Marshall McLuhan Award for Outstanding Book in the Field of Media Ecology, which went to Neil Postman for Building a Bridge to the Eighteenth Century: How the Past Can Improve Our Future (New York: Alfred A. Knopf, 1999). Historians can see the wisdom of such a pursuit.
